gumballs ~ morro bay, canon digital rebel xt
i've been missing color in my world lately. it's something i have been craving intensely. juicy reds, vibrant oranges, persistant yellows, sumptuous greens, enchanting blues and electric purples. oh so yum.
when jimmy and i went to play on the coast over the weekend, one of my goals was to bring more color into my life. my plan was to seek out juicy color in the everyday places and capture it.
here at home, i gaze at the sea of black in my closet and notice i have been slowly replacing it with an ocean of color.
my hairstylist wants to add some splashes of color to my hair next month, and i am completely open to it.
i have been fantasizing about hanging magenta curtains in my bedroom and have been reading colorful books.
in fact, i am thinking of rearranging all the books on my shelves by color rather than subject.
i was starting to notice the photos i was shooting were all swimming in neutral palettes and black and whites and i was feeling very bored and restless with my blog banner. seems it was time to throw out a lifeline.
there are many things to share about my weekend as so much of it felt like a springboard to some new ways of thinking. but in this post i wanted to concentrate on how excited i am to be bringing bright, happy color into my world. prepare to see more color here as part of the schmoopfest. {wink}
tell me, how do you bring color into your world?
* blog banner is temporary until i design a new one. i just needed to throw something up that was bursting with juicy color in the meantime.

i love it!
it's funny because i have felt that in some ways here in asheville i have to hide my color. there are a lot of neutrals and i stand out in my bright yellows and wild colors. this post inspired me to embrace the colors i love and be wild!
love you.

oh, I think this is so prophetic. Hooray for the revival of vibrancy! Re-vibrancy?
I tend towards color around my edges - colorful shoes and handbags and earrings. And occasionally a bit of bright (I mean BRIGHT, like fire-engine red) color in my hair (just a little bit - just enough to be surprising).
I wear colorful gemstone earrings (almost all by Donna at Serifos in Silverlake) - today I'm wearing silver chandelier earrings with robins-egg blue beads. These days I am carrying a lime green handbag with hot pink lining. I still wear a lot of neutral colors on my body but I love my big green bag!

I gotsta have color, too. I'm really partial to orange, bright apple green, and a blue that is close to the blue in the Philippines flag. I bring those colors into my daily existence with my clothes. I have socks in the blue color; sneakers with green stripes and accents; sneakers with orange accents; and an orange raincoat. I also love to wear suits and ties, so I also rock some colorful ties and shirts.

Colorful sneakers are fun! Colorful sox if you wanna hide it a bit. :) And as we all know, paint rocks!!! Re-paint a room....wait, you probably shouldn't....ask Jimmy to do it! ha ha! But, mostly, I keep the color to my handbags...the latest addition being a paprika orange leather hobo. Yummy. XOXO

Love the banner. I think it should stay awhile.
I color my life with people. My closet is pretty much white, brown, black and green :)

My chiropractor recently said, "you know, for as long as you've been coming here, you've worn black 85% of the time..." and I've been stumped by what I could have had on (or what-the-hell I was
thinking) the other 15% of the time!
I color my world with very colorful art pieces around the house, colorful walls in my shops, color in things I create, and taking in the sky.
And oh, but I love the header. Not only is it colorful, it screams with life and energy. Thank you for your lovely blog.

the red in my oldest daughter's hair
the blue in both my girls' eyes and my hubby's too
the yellow, green and blue pastel paint that is on my walls
the boxes of crayons and markers that my girls use to draw pictures
the paper and embellishments that I use in my scrapbooking
the flowers that are left in my garden
the leaves that are changing colors in the tree across the street from me
I also love your new banner as well, and I love the gumballs photo as well!

i heart the new colour in your beautiful banner, temporary as it may be :)
when i talk to you or picture you, i always picture swirls of beautiful colour and i am so happy you are finding that joy again!
in my house there are yellow, green blue and pink walls. i have big bold splashes of red and orange everywhere. my fridge is loaded with colour, my paints are loaded with colour, i have blue glass, green glass dishes and little bowls filled with colourful gems, tee hee. i also have a big huge basket filled with different coloured yarns right now and am loving that added smile. people come over for the first time and they comment on how bright and colourful our place is, i love that :)

what a lovely post!
(and that gumball shot is gorgeous)
how do i bring color in?
i always try to wear a splash of color-
(especially if i am wearing all black)
a pink beanie, a red scarf, an orange cropped jacket.
i also rearrange my house a lot...
playing with different and new colors here and there.
i also paint beach stones,
but you know that already.
oh!
and always fresh flowers once a week.
thanks for this
colorful girl...

I highly support having fun with hair color!
I was never that adventurous as a teen (being the wallflower type) and didn't even dye my hair until I was thirty-something, and then eventually thought...hmmmm, I want something fun to look at in the mirror when I wake up...and in my own world I've become a bit of a rock star. After getting bright red racing stripes my mother commented, "but you look like a comic book character" and my response was, AWESOME!!!
Also, don't forget to buy some stripey rainbow socks!
