Thank you, thank you, thank you. This word has been resonating deeply for me. I jut spent a pleasant hour journaling in an effort to get back to what makes me feel truly happy, alive and mentally/spiritually nourished. I have 2 daughters (4 and 2) and it seems as though I have let motherhood warp some of the hobbies and daydreams I had as a girl. Just a few examples -We had a trellis on the side of our back porch that was covered in trumpet vines and I used to sit in a lounge chair back there when I was a girl and get lost in my books for hours on end. I could easily lose a day if there was a book I was really into. It seems as though all I read now is non-fiction. I read books about nutrition, how to be a mindful mother, Waldorf/ Montessori, etc. reading is no longer pleasurable. I used to love to take sweet smelling bubble baths with lots of candles and lotions and potions. I now take a detox bath with ginger and Epsom salts 1-2 times a week, certainly not fun or indulgent. I realize that I need to play more and return to all of those things that made me feel good. Non fiction and detox baths are ok but I need to give myself permission to cut loose more, like read for pleasure too, take some really lovely pampering baths. Finding balance seems to be the theme I struggle with the most, thank you for triggering some much needed reflection on what it is that I need to do to get back to what refreshes/ renews me.
