I read Chookooloonks everyday. I want to be Karen when I grow up. She is intelligent, beautiful, funny, creative and if you look at her site for more than 30 seconds you can see she is obviously talented as well. Not to mention an entrepreneur.
I was somewhat intrigued when I came across this post. She talks about meme's. I know I am a newbie to this whole world known as the blogosphere, and the language in that world, but I had no idea what that meant. Meme. I had to look it up. At first I thought it meant meme as in ME ME ME, it's all about me. Are we done with you? Let's get back to ME. Most of these types of questionnaires (meme's), you know the kinds you see all over myspace.com for example, in fact, are all about the proverbial me. So that is what I thought she meant. Not at all. Not even close. Turns out Karen just has a firm grasp on the English language. Unlike myself, who obviously needs to spend some quality time with Webster.
I guess in the world of blogging, you can be tagged, or tag, another blogger and pass on a meme. See how fast I am learning? NOTHING gets by my I tell ya! When you are tagged, it is polite to then indulge the tagger by taking the meme challenge. Now, I wasn't tagged by any means, but thought it would be fun to try anyway, so here you go.
A rather long disclaimer to answer seven sets of questions to give you some insight into memememeME!
7 things yet to do with my life: in NO particular order
1. Raise a family with my husband.
2. Publish something I have written.
3. Travel to Japan.
4. Become successful at my own business venture, rather than working for a corporation. Copying Karen on that one, but that is my dream too.
5. Take cooking classes in Italy.
6. Be a great parent.
7. Contribute something of value to the world.
7 things I can’t do:
1. Accessorize.
2. Scuba dive. I tried. I freaked. I drank many cocktails instead.
3. Resist giving money or food to homeless people with dogs.
4. Mix a cocktail. Any cocktail. This is why I drink wine.
5. Cut my own hair. A mistake I won't make again.
6. I will never understand people who can't accept gay marriage.
7. Get my hair to look like Debra Messing's no matter how hard I try.
7 things I admire about my spouse:
1. The way he smiles with his eyes.
2. How he lives by his personal philosophies in each decision he makes. The man has serious integrity.
3. The way he makes me laugh so hard to the point of tears each and every single day.
4. The way he makes you feel when you meet him. He can make you feel like you are the only person in the world. He does this with everyone he meets as well as those he already knows.
5. The way he touches people's lives.
6. He is a true renaissance man. He is a mathematical genius, cooks like an artist, paints, has impeccable taste in fashion & decor, folds a mean fitted sheet, can teach Martha Stewart a thing or two about how to make a bed, knows wine really well, he can even cut hair. It's amazing he is straight!
7. He keeps me up to date on all things Macintosh. He is truly a Mac daddy. I live with built in tech support and it rocks!
7 things I say most often:
1. “Oh no you di'int.”
2. “Hi, Sweet Baby!” To Jimmy.
3. “Good luck with that.”
4. “Nevada!!!!!!!” Usually when I am trying to get our cat to come inside at night.
5. “I’m just sayin.’”
6. “How's that working out for you?”
7. “No, YOU'RE Schmoopy.”
7 books I love:
1. Memoirs of a Geisha, Arthur Golden. I became so enamored of this book that when I was finished it, I turned back to page one and read it all over again. I didn't want it to end.
2. The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran.
3. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, J.K. Rowling. I am only up to the third book in the series. Yeah, I know. But I just remember thinking when I read this that I had wished so much I had these books when I was a kid. The feeling was magical.
4. The Vein of Gold, Julia Cameron. Much cheaper than therapy and twice as effective.
5. Crackpot, John Waters. This book "sleighs" me. You will have to read Chapter 12 to get that one.
6. Under the Tuscan Sun, Frances Mayes. I didn't care for the movie but the book is delicious in every sense. The recipes in this book are so great I actually keep it with my cookbooks.
7. Dooce. Yes, I know this isn't a book, but Heather tells great stories. She should be a book.
7 movies I’d I do watch over and over again:
1. Dirty Dancing. Say it with me, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner."
2. The Shawshank Redemption. Amazing storytelling.
3. Office Space. Obviously.
4. Before Sunset. A romantic gab fest set in the streets of Paris.
5. CAMP. For the musical numbers alone.
6. When Harry Met Sally. The quintessential chick flick.
7. Out of Sight. The bar scene is the sexiest film scene ever shot in my opinion. George Clooney and J. Lo definitely have some chemistry going on.
7 songs I can’t get enough of: Songs are hard because I love music so much...
1. Anything by Zero 7.
2. Anything by Erykah Badu.
3. Anything by Jill Scott.
4. "As" by Stevie Wonder. This song is my church.
5. "August Day Song" by Bebel Gilberto. Jimmy played this for me around the time of our wedding and I fell in love with her voice.
6. "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce. This song makes me want to shake my bootylicious booty whenever I hear it.
7. "Feelin' Good" (Joe Claussell Remix) by Nina Simone. I truly listen to this song everyday.
7 people I want to join in, too: I don't think I know seven people with blogs who read this so I will call out the two I do. Hee Hee.
1. Tina
2. Nicole
3. Dianna, when she finally gets hers started. Hint Hint.
4. Mom. Ditto.
DAMN. Jill Scott. TOTALLY forgot about her when I did my meme. Damn.
And you were right the first time -- it IS pronounced mememememememe!!!!
