laughter ~ photo by denise
jen gray makes me laugh.
she is an amazing friend who is sensitive to the needs of others.
she has such a gift with the way she weaves her words, having you feeling all wrapped up in a warm hug while simultaneously managing to punctuate her thoughts with a healthy dose of humor.
if you read her blog, you already know her talent for writing and photography.
she happened to check in with me the other day ~ a day where the construction here had worked my very last nerve, and also the day i had been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. so to say she received an earful, or emailful rather, would be an understatement.
in her gentle, wise, soulful and soothing way she made me feel all warm and loved with her non-judging and comforting words, and then ended the email with, "and it's better than having to eat poo."
i laughed big. this is something her family says to each other when things are not going well, "sorry about your car, but at least you don't have to eat poo." "sorry you lost your job, but, hey, at least you don't have to eat poo."
and she's right. it helped me put it all in perspective, because as much as that day sucked, it was better than having to eat poo.
you are a rock star, jen.
*should you desire further evidence of jen gray's fabulous, superhero ways, look no further than here.
It's definately better than eating poo.
That made me laugh really hard and I'm afraid I'm going to have to steal it.
GD is hard, I know. My sister is a nutritionist in my mothers health food store and has helped many mommies coming in with this. She has a pretty good success rate; so if you would like any advice, I would be happy to help. :)
I'll be thinking of you.
You look amazing!!!
Oh, and my husband was SO enjoying the wonder woman dance, he even had to join in!

i lurk daily on jen's blog, gave her a make my day award, even though she hasn't a clue who i am. she is truly inspired.
and you honey, i'm sorry about the GD dx., it's super common, but still.
sending you love from the chilly northeast.

I have been lurking on your site for a couple of months and feel compelled to write as I just walked the journey of GD with my last pregnancy (four months ago). It was the most difficult and liberating journey of my life. Women often hear "oh it is so common and treatable." While this is true, I also know that it can be scary and isolating. Especially if you choose to go your own route, which I did. Please feel free to email me if you would like to discuss anything. For reasons I won't explain here, it was extremely important to me that I NOT take insulin. I was finally able to get things under control but it took an incredible amount of energy and faith. Please feel free to make contact if you would like to ask any questions or just need support. Sending you loving energy, and knowing that you and your little bean are perfect, whole and complete.
Leslie
p.s. please excuse my choppy circuitous train of thought - I am so sleep deprived this week!
